Hospital Information System
Relational Database Design & Enterprise Backend Management
An enterprise relational database and management backend designed for hospital patient admissions, medical records, and scheduling, built as the final project for an IEEE backend workshop.
1. The Engineering Problem
Healthcare facilities manage complex, highly coupled data entities (patients, physicians, departments, admissions, prescriptions, billings) that require strict referential integrity, auditability, and ACID transaction compliance.
2. What Was Built
A normalized relational database schema with PL/SQL business logic, stored procedures, triggers, and CRUD operations supporting patient intake, medical history querying, and physician scheduling.
3. System Architecture & Topology
ASCII TopologyNormalized 3NF relational schema with stored procedures enforcing hospital business rules at the database engine level.
